(This blog is a loose translation of the video below.)
Today’s question that I’m going to answer is, “How can I know who or what is real?” This concern came up during a discussion about certain people who are influential in alternative media. No, I will not be mentioning names, but I’m going to tell you how you can discern who’s real and who’s not.
I’m sure you’ve heard “By their fruits, you will know them,” so ask yourself if these people are practicing what they preach? I realize that you didn’t have the blessing (or curse), that I did to meet them in person and witness their activities firsthand, but if you listen and watch closely, you can see them for what they are.
Do they share of themselves or are they posing as some authority telling you what to do and how to do it and demonizing people who don’t believe the same? Do they open themselves up by sharing their stories about how they’ve learned what they claim to know? Did they ever have to endure a hard lesson due to their mistakes or have they always been perfect?
Other indicators to tell if this person you’re listening to is real is to ask yourself these questions,
- “Is this person leading me to a better understanding of MY JOURNEY or are they spinning me off into la-la land?”
- Are they using big words or creating word salads by talking in circles and not directly answering questions?
- Are they pushing you closer to love and compassion or are they deceiving you by getting you caught up in distractions to take you further away from the truth?
- How does their content make you feel? Do you feel fear and paranoia as if we’re all doomed, and there’s nothing we can do, or do you feel uplifted after you are done listening to their programs?
- Are they giving you solutions or are they selling you stuff?
For example, a lot of alternative media personalities sell seeds, “Buy these seeds and bury them in the ground and you’re going to be protected if anything catastrophic happens.” I mean, are these people growing gardens? Do they SHOW you how to plant a garden or what to do with the fruit of your labors? When the end of the world comes, what good are those fucking seeds in the ground going to do for you? Do you think they’re just going to turn into food automatically? lol
I understand how we are drawn to infotainment concerning aliens, and life on Mars, and blah blah blah, but following those breadcrumbs wastes time that you could be spending improving yourself and getting to the place you claim you want to be. Learn to trust that subtle “still small voice” and follow your gut even if you don’t know why you feel the way that you do.
Every time your gut tells you something, and then you go against it, you’re essentially telling your higher self, your inner spirit to fuck off because you think you know better. Do you need a loud bullhorn beating you over the head, repeating the same things over and over and over like Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP)? It’s okay if you do. I did. 🙂
If you’re not familiar with NLP, then you need to check out the work of Derren Brown and witness the types of things he can get entire shopping malls to do just by using a few words. And if you think that they’re not using NLP on the airwaves and the TV, then you’re probably not ready to discern that what’s real is not always pretty. Sometimes us genuine truth tellers don’t brush our hair, and sometimes we cry, unlike those “perfect people” who urge you to buy seeds because the apocalypse is imminent (again.)
The bottom line is…real isn’t pretty. Real isn’t polished.
Who are you choosing to spend your time with?
